This page is a record of the results of any Spraint analysis undertaken. I'm not planning to do this on a regular basis - only if I have time but it is interesting to understand which prey species the otters in Otter Valley are taking. We'll see if over time there is a pattern or whether it changes over time.
Given that prey analysis in spraint isn't that easy I've done my best to identify the main species found in each spraint. However, if I have the identification wrong feel free to let me know and I'll correct it. Some of the bones one deals with are tiny so it can be very difficult to identify them with absolute certainty. I may even have to see about attending a course to improve my identification skills with the help of experts if I find the task too difficult.
